Until recently, people went for a movie to a nearby theater for entertainment. The use of LED technology in a television allows for slightly different viewing. The size of a television screen using LEDs is limited to 40 inches or greater thus the screen is much larger than those of other TV types. However, the screen is slimmer and sleeker in depth. Life is Good With Traffic Lights

The red traffic light is the simplest of instruction in our life. As soon as you see it, the body reacts automatically. There are many types of traffic lights to guide cars and pedestrians on the road. But can you find such signals within you to guide you through the journey of life? It’s a feel-good article.
     I was speeding towards a crossing trying to beat the green traffic light. But the lights changed and the red light stared at my face. I slammed the breaks and stopped the car. A fast car sped from left to right. If I had not stopped, I would have surely been hit by that car. My heart raced. Fortunately there was no other car at the back to hit me from behind as I came abruptly to a halt. As I regained my composure, I reflected on the event. I thanked the red light for stopping me just in time.
     What would the World be like without the red light? It would be in complete chaos. The simple invention has brought so much order and safety to the civilized World! I decided to probe the internet for the origin and history of the humble traffic light.
     I found that the traffic lights were an invention of a Railway engineer JP Knight who first fitted his red/green gas-light traffic signal at the top of Parliament Square in London as far back as in 1868! In the US of A, William Potts, a police officer in Detroit put up the first electric traffic lights in 1920! And it was 12 years later in 1932 that London got its first set of modern traffic lights.
     The traffic lights were meant to allow right of way to the vehicular traffic alternately to different directions. The simple system gave a cue to the drivers when to stop and when to proceed. But in places where the traffic was heavy, the pedestrians found it difficult to cross. The crossing paths across road junctions were painted in black and white stripes for the pedestrians to walk. On this strip, called the Zebra Crossing, the vehicles had to stop to give right of way to the walkers. But where the pedestrians were numerous they had a time slot of their own with “Walk” / “Don’t Walk” lights at pedestrian crossings
     Soon there were many innovations for the pedestrian crossing signals. In England, they were known after the names of birds! Where the pedestrians were infrequent they could activate the “Walk” sign by pressing a button. This was named a “Pelican” crossing for the lights mounted on the opposite side of the road and “Puffin” crossing where the lights were mounted on the same side of the road. To facilitate cyclists along with pedestrians, a “Toucan” crossing was introduced. The horse riders were also not left behind; they had the facility of the “Pegasus” crossing which had a button placed high up on a pole for the rider to press!
     Sometimes when there not a single car anywhere in sight, the red light seems like a tyrant bullying you to wait for no reason. Should we become slaves of such idiot machines? But this too is changing as the controllers of traffic lights are being programmed with sensors to make the green light come on faster when there is a dearth of traffic. The lights give the drivers a false sense of security and they speed up their vehicles through the green light. This is dangerous on sparse traffic conditions as there may be a driver on the cross road who impatiently jumps the red light and causes an accident.
     Traffic lights could be oppressive in crowded conditions as well. In very crowded areas like a hustling and bustling city centre, the traffic is always slow and the traffic lights are a real nuisance. The lights hinder traffic more than facilitate it. Traffic planners are realizing that it may be better to restore the traffic management to humans. In some traffic conditions the eye contact between the drivers and the pedestrians may be a better way of giving way to one another. This is proved in the Dutch town of Drachten where in 2004, the road signs and traffic lights were taken down as a part of ‘Naked Street’ experiment. Natural cautious negotiation between the motorists, cyclists and the walkers govern the streets and the number of accidents has reduced remarkably! 
     The new awakening has found its roots in England too! The council of Kensington and Chelsea was the first to remove traffic lights to forge modern ‘shared streetscapes’ where eye contact between motorists and simple common sense can do away with a ‘clutter’ of bollards and barriers, traffic lights, street signs, and speed cameras. The council has succeeded in turning the Exhibition Road into an open ‘naked street’ for cars and pedestrians by ‘decluttering’ of the Kensington High Street. They have pulled down the railings, removed the kerbs and signs. They have however added bicycle islands and mini-roundabouts. The result is vastly reduced accidents! It shows that there is a built in regulator within us.
     But for most of the roads with moderate traffic and without many pedestrians, the traffic lights will reign for a long time to come. The red light tells you to stop. It is the simplest form of instruction. I wish there were many more red lights in other forms of human activity. I wish there was a red light to signal a stop to those who have had a drink too many!

Changing Your Headlight Bulbs: A Guide To The Most Commonly Asked Car Bulb Questions

If you are looking to buy, replace or even upgrade your headlight bulbs there seems to be an immense amount of advice available. Typically the amount of information that is passed down through word of mouth can be confusing and so listed below are some of these most commonly asked questions and answers.

Should I buy and replace headlight bulbs in pairs?
Yes. This makes good common sense advice for two reasons. Firstly if one of your headlight bulbs has blown it is very likely that the other one will go fairly soon, so if you have taken the effort of changing one bulb you might as well change the other whilst your at it, and then you will not have to repeat the process for a considerable time.

The other reason for changing headlight bulbs in pairs is because as a bulb gets towards the end of its life its light performance is not at its optimum level and so installing one brand new headlight bulb whilst leaving the other old bulb in place will cause a light imbalance, meaning you are not getting the best light performance from your headlight bulbs.

Can I touch the glass when changing the headlight bulbs?
No. No matter how clean your hands are, when you touch the glass you will leave a residue of some of your skins natural oils. When the headlight bulb is illuminated this oil creates a hot spot on the glass and can lead to the bulb failing much earlier than expected.

Top car bulb manufacturers now use toughened quartz glass in their bulbs and so this hotspot issue is not such a factor as it used to be. However it is still good practice to wear latex gloves when handling headlight bulbs to ensure you get the best service life from them.

My car has plastic headlight lenses, does it matter which headlight bulbs I buy?
Yes. If you install headlight bulbs that do not have special UV filtered glass it will very quickly, discolour and eventually damage the plastic lenses. Therefore if you do have plastic lenses on your vehicle make sure the headlight bulbs you buy have special UV cut glass, this will normally be labelled clearly on the packaging.

If I want brighter headlights on the road can I fit high wattage headlight bulbs?

• LEDs generally last an average of 100,000 hours, which is over 11 years of consistent use. The initial cost of an LED light box, in many cases, is much higher; however, if you figure in the savings from time, labor, and bulb replacement over the years with the other displays, you could actually save money in the long run.
• T5 bulbs last about 1.5 years if left on continuously, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Fortunately, bulb replacement is a simple process. That being said, if only one bulb burns out before the others, your display will be aesthetically unappealing to the eye. The burnt out bulb leaves a cold spot or shadow on your light box display.
• CCFL bulbs last 4 to 5 years if constantly left on, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Although they survive for quite a bit longer than T5 bulbs, bulb replacement is much more complex. These displays must typically be returned to the factory for bulb replacement. This is because they are very thin and are installed directly into the light box frame in an intricate manner.

If you are in a business where "going green" is an important factor, CCFL or LED light boxes are the most environmentally conscious displays. In researching the power consumption of a standard T5 light box in comparison with either CCFL or LED light boxes, you will find that the CCFL and LED displays will have tremendous electrical savings. With today's push to be more environmentally conscious, many businesses are now considering these less absorbing lighting systems. Some businesses are even replacing all of their T5 lightboxes with the less economically consuming CCFL and LED bulbs.

If budget and price is a concern, it is essential to take several points into consideration. Let's say that the "apparent budget" equals the initial purchase price. Let's then say the "true budget" equals the actual cost after adding in electrical consumption and cost of bulb replacement.

• T5 light boxes have the cheapest "apparent budget" but their "true budget" is easily much more than the most expensive LED light box after 4 or 5 years of use.
• CCFL light boxes cost only slightly more than T5 displays. However, after just one year, the electrical consumption savings with a CCFL box will be more than the initial cost difference between the T5 and the CCFL display.
• LED light boxes have the most expensive "apparent budget" but the premium can quickly be justified over just a few years. When combining the electrical efficiency, with the 11 year bulb shelf life, and include their appealing look, it can be worth it to invest more money up front for the initial purchase.

After careful consideration and research, you should be able to make the best decision for your business requirements. Can I run 2 x12v LED MR11 bulbs off a 6v Battery?

They are my bike lights and the halogens are killing the battery which is I think 4800mAh. If they will just be a little dimmer I can probably live with it. Ditto reduced battery life, as long as it's over half an hour!The bulbs I am looking at are 1 LED 1w rated (20w equivalent)

Recent innovations in led lighting are creating a stir in the interior design industry and the home do-it-yourself market.  It is now possible to apply led lighting to virtually any surface to create dazzling effects with the minimum of amount of outlay and disruption to your home.  Modern led light strips are less than 2mm thick and are simple to apply using the self-adhesive backing tape that they come with meaning that they can be apllied just about anywhere you want.

Need more Info but I would Say that you need a video card with A/v inputs or a wireless usb adapter. try the video card first, one with TV output would be avalable at any office/computer store. you will need lots of memory space for this, Both RAM and hardrive space.

2006 Jeep Commander Rear Tail light and Panel Damage?

I backed up into a pole and damaged the Tail Light and panel underneath. My Question is, how do I find out the name of the panel part, as I do not think I need to replace the whole panel . I Hate Low Energy Light Bulbs

"I hate low energy bulbs"

Last year a customer returned some low energy lamps she had purchased and asked for a refund. The reason she stated was her husband cannot stand them as they take too long to warm up, do not give off a comfortable light, they are too bulky and he does not care about the environment. Fair enough I thought and so swapped them for some incandescent bulbs.

Well that was then and this is now. What a difference a year makes. There have been some dramatic developments in the manufacturing of low energy bulbs. Not only can you get low energy bulbs with different choices of the colour white ranging from warm white, white and cool white (2700k, 3500k and 4200k respectively) but they now light up almost instantly and are almost the same physical size as their counterparts - the physical reduction in size of CFL (Compact fluorescent light) candles and golf ball lamp has been remarkable!

However that is not all most people will have seen the news earlier in the year when people were, mainly due to the dislike of CFLs, stock piling the 100w GLS bulb on announcement that they were to become discontinued. We do not like being told how to light our homes and due to all the reasons outlined above, disliked the thought of having to use low energy bulbs.   

Well there is now a solution available; the Energy Saver Halogen is the new alternative to CFLs.

An Energy Saver Halogen is essentially a G9 bulb within an outer case.  They light up instantly, mimic a standard incandescent bulb in appearance and can also be dimmed.

But how do they reduce consumption you may ask? Energy Saver Halogens use a higher quality and thinner filament which produces more efficient lumens and maintains a more stable lamp life. (The filament in turn can endure a higher temperature)  By adjusting the mix gas rate inside the bulb, adding more percentage in krypton gas, it provides higher efficiency and therefore burns brighter resulting in up to 30% reduction of running cost.

So soon everyone will be happy. The government may achieve carbon emission targets, energy consumption will be reduced hence reducing our bills, we also have a flexible choice when it comes to lighting our homes and fewer people will "hate low energy bulbs".
