I have an '01 Jetta GLS and need new headlight bulbs. Are there different kinds? Couldn't find anything in my book. I like those annoying white ones -- can I get those?

Go to AUTOZONE or a similar car-parts store. Go to their lightbulb section. They should either have an electronic "Keypad Style" lookup system or a just a plain ole book. You can quickly find Jetta 01, trim GLS and it should have 4-5 different bulb brands and their stock#'s. Should only take you 5minutes and cost you very little.

How do I replace the ceiling light in my car?

More specifically...where do I find it? I opened up the cover and saw that it just looks like a really tiny lightbulb (halogen?). I have never seen this light go out in cars before! Is it legal to install xenon headlights in cars in Malaysia?

I get contrasting information. I read in news that they are illegal - officials from the Road Transport authorities were quoted as saying that they will fine those found with such lights installed. Then I read that our national car manufacturers install xenon headlights as standards in their new models. Personally, I hate these lights. They hurt the eyes when coming from a car opposite and irritates when the lights shine into my rear-mirror.

It is illegal to install xenon bulbs if it is not the standard specs for your car model. It is only legal if the xenon bulbs is part of the standard specs which came with the car.

But it is crazy to have such lighting as it is dangerous to other road users. And it is also very dangerous for the driver of such vehicle during heavy rain at night .However malaysia is truly asia as we have 2 different sets of law. One for the elites and rich and one for the common people.

HID Conversion Kits are getting more and more popular for automotive headlight, it’s considered as the best upgraded headlight system compared to the original halogen bulbs. Four Common HID Kits

What do the different types of HID (High Intensity Discharge) Headlight Conversion Kits Mean?

There are 3000k, 4300k, 6000k, 8000k,10000k, and 12000k conversion kits. What does this mean? Does it have something to do with color?

the difference is the brightness.....u need to check ur local laws since some are not legal......not to mention that the "blue look" can get u a 1200 buck ticket in some areas........

and also if changing the bulbs it is mandatory to change the headlamp housings to HID as well or u can get big ticket and b charged with any wreck u cause.....

the cost for changing it is the price for the bulb.
to change it: if you still have that intake pipe that curves up by the battery, try going in from the right corner of the battery closes to you. if not then reach in from the left corner of battery closes to you. if you can't fit your hand in there then you have to remove the battery. removing it would make it easier to get to. it also resets your radio and clock in the car. use size 10mm socket(deep socket prefer) or wrench to remove battery clamp. there is two(2) teeth like clip on the harness that needs to be pull back a little to unplug the harness. once u get the harness off then simply turn the bulb one way to loosen it. the bulb can be remove first also. I prefer unplugging the harness first. do these steps in reverse to put in the new bulb and battery back in.
