To be completely honestly, if you arn't going to spend the $300 it takes to get a good radar detectors, don't waste your money on a cheap one. They usually have very poorly made false alarm circuits, so they are constantly going off in town every time you pass a gas station or store, and it doesn't have POP mode, so it wont actually detect cops in a larger city where pop mode is implemented.

The only place the cobra might help you is on the highway, because they usually use LIDAR, but even the $700 detectors have trouble picking up LIDAR 100% of the time, so it's risky.
