How to Choose a Fish Finder

Many people ask, “How do I select the proper fish finder for my needs?”  There are 5 aspects of a fishfinder to keep in mind when making a purchase.

1. The Transducer

There are 2 types of transducers:  single frequency and dual frequency.  Single frequency is generally best for lakes and shallow coastal fishing.  Dual frequency transducers are generally better for deep sea fishing.  Dual beam transducers limit the beam size for the high frequency beam so these fish finders are truly best for deep water.

1. Power

In general, the higher the power of your fish finder the better.  Higher powered fish finders generally cost more so you will have to weigh power with cost.  Remember that even in shallow water such as lakes, higher power will still help with better imaging.  Most expert fishermen recommend giving the most weight to the power rating of your unit.

1. Depth

A fish finder being able to reach greater depths is directly related to the Power and the quality of the transducer.  In general, the more expensive models penetrate the water better.  Keep in mind while shopping that the depths shown in the product specifications are for clear water.  Salt water and murky water will limit the depths the sonar can penetrate.  As a general rule of thumb, purchase a fish finder with a depth range about 10% greater than what you intend to fish.  Having a slightly greater depth range should help adjust for less than clear water.

1. Display Size

Fish finder displays vary from four inches to seven inches (and some larger).  Obviously the larger the screen, the higher the cost.  The advantage to a larger screen can be ease in seeing the results in bright sunlight.

1. Display Resolution

The display resolution pertains to how clear the image is on the fish finder screen.  The higher the resolution the better the image will be.  Color screens are often better for direct sunlight as they are easier to see.  Again, the higher the resolution, the higher the cost, in general.

Now that we’ve covered the basics of how a fish finder works and what the key pieces of fish finders are, let’s offer some suggestions on how to choose the perfect fish finder for you. 

Most fishermen recommend doubling whatever you were planning to spend on your fish finder.  We leave the amount you wish to spend completely up to you.

Next decide where are you planning to fish the most often- on a lake, along coastal areas or are you mostly a deep sea fisherman?  Are you planning to use your fish finder on only one boat or do you want to be able to use it on a friend’s boat?  Answering these two questions will let you know if you want a fish finder that works best in shallow or deep water and whether or not you want a fixed mount fish finder or a portable fish finder. 

If you want a fixed mount fish finder then you will next need to decide if you want a transom mount transducer or a hull transducer.  Transom mount transducer are easier to install and usually less expensive.  You can purchase a transom mount transducer in single or dual frequency models.  They work best in water that is somewhat calmer and are not terribly effective at much more than 10 knots. 

Through hull transducers are the best for clarity and performance, but are harder to install and cost more.  You really need to have a need for high speed bottom reading to make them worth the extra cost. 

In general if you are going offshore or into deep fresh water, the hull transducer with dual frequency is probably the best bet for accurate fish readings.

If you are using a smaller boat and are not planning to do high speed fish finding then a transom mount or portable fish finder will save you some money and should meet your needs just fine.

H4 HID and Ballast.. dual hi/lo do i need new ballast or just bulb ?

I am transferring my HID kit from the old car to a new car.

your current ballast will work. but you will need the rest of the wiring harness. if you only had the low beams, then i suppose you pluged the ballasts into the socket for the lights and that was it. for the dual beams, you must get a wiring harness that connects to the battery. then plugs into one of the headlight sockets and runs both lights.

no it doesnt. the xenon bulbs have a small blue effect but they do not light up anywhere close to an hid light will also the hid kits are made to burn hotter but to give you a certain scatter of light so that it wont be to blinding for drivers coming at you you or infront of you. the xenon will blind other drivers it will be like having your highs while your lows are on. if you can get teh hid kit go with that its better and safer for everyone. had the xenons on a crx and the hid kit on a civic sedan. huge difference.

SEnuke SEO Software Review

When I first stumbled upon the SEnuke SEO software program I have to admit that I wasn't impressed with the salespage. It failed to hold my attention and I moved on pretty quickly in search of other website traffic software that would hopefully bring me a plethora of targeted traffic to my website or find some way, any way to bring some guaranteed website traffic for my latest campaign.
 
A few days later I was busy carrying out keyword searches, again on the look out for some quality website traffic software, which I knew I would need if I was to get my new campaign into second gear. It was during this search that I noticed another link to the SEnuke SEO software website and thought I should have another look at the salespage and at least keep an open mind.

This time I did read the whole page and watched the promo videos and I have to say I was excited at the prospects of having just the one website traffic software program that performed a variety of tasks, and all from the one console. Also, I imagined that all the creative modules within the SEnuke SEO software would enhance my chances of bringing more targeted traffic to my website, so can you imagine my delight in noticing that the promoters of the SEnuke SEO software were offering a full 7 day free trial of the latest version of their seemingly wonderful software.
 
Basically, I was already aware of how to attract quality targeted traffic to my website and all the various processes involved, and so I had already been working on the same SEO strategy that the SEnuke SEO software automates. I had built a network of authority site pages all linking back to my main website. but the work to date had been so time-consuming and extremely boring, and I found it difficult to stay interested. What I really needed was some software that would provide me with the guaranteed website traffic I needed, and with the minimum of effort on my part.

I signed up for the 7 day free trial of the SEnuke SEO software and had the program downloaded and installed in minutes. I fired up the software and was immediately impressed at the layout of the console and also the ease of access to each module. A Drivers Guide to Spare Bulb Kits

There is nothing worse than preparing to start out on long late night drive, only to discover that one of your headlight bulbs has blown and you don't have a spare replacement. Driving with a headlight bulb not working, especially if its on the drivers side can make for a very stressful journey as you strain your eyes to see through the gloom whilst hoping that the other drivers can still see you clearly. Carrying a spare bulb kit in your boot or glove box can prevent all of this worry and hassle and get you back motoring safely with the minimum of fuss.

What to look for when buying a spare bulb kit
There are a wide range of spare bulb kits available from both online and high street retailers, but how can you tell if their quality is any good, and more importantly if they will have the right sort of bulbs when you need them? The first requirement is to check which type of headlight bulbs you have, this will normally be either H1, H4 or H7 bulbs. To find out which headlight bulbs are fitted to your vehicle you can consult the owners handbook, or type "Car Bulbs Finder" in to Google and use one of the free online databases provided by online retailers.

Normally a vehicle will use the same type of bulb for both the dipped beam and main beam headlights, but in some cases you will find that two different bulb types are used. Therefore to cover all eventualities you will need to buy a spare bulb kit that has both a H1 and a H7 Bulb. Drivers of cars fitted with H4 bulbs do not need to worry about this fact, as H4 bulbs have dual filaments and so are used for both dipped beam and main beam headlights.

Once you have found a spare bulb kit that contains your required headlight bulbs, you then want to check that it has the correct sidelight, tail light, brake light and indicator bulbs. Normally these types of bulbs are standard fitting on most cars. However there are a few points you need to check, firstly see if your car lights have clear indictor or brake light lenses, if they do you will need a spare bulb kit that has an orange or red tinted bulbs respectively.

Secondly, it is important to check to see if you have separate brake lights and tail lights, as some vehicles combine these two lights into one by using a twin filament bulb. If this applies to your vehicle check that your spare bulb kit contains a twin filament bulb, which is often called a stop and tail bulb. A good spare bulb kit will always also contain a selection of fuses ranging from 5 to 20 amps just in case, because a blown fuse can often paralyse important aspects of a cars electrical system.

Is it legal to install xenon headlights in cars in Malaysia?

I get contrasting information. I read in news that they are illegal - officials from the Road Transport authorities were quoted as saying that they will fine those found with such lights installed. Then I read that our national car manufacturers install xenon headlights as standards in their new models. Personally, I hate these lights. They hurt the eyes when coming from a car opposite and irritates when the lights shine into my rear-mirror.

It is illegal to install xenon bulbs if it is not the standard specs for your car model. It is only legal if the xenon bulbs is part of the standard specs which came with the car.

HID Xenon Headlights: How to Get the Xenon Lights Look

There is no doubting the popularity and ever growing demand for HID xenon lights. Where they were once an expensive option on new prestige vehicles, they are now being offered as standard fitment on many mainstream cars, and it is easy to see why.

The intense and powerful white light produced by HID xenon bulbs really illuminates the darkness like never before, and cars fitted with HID xenon lights are more visible and look more distinctive to other road users.

Although HID xenon lights have been in use for over 10 years now, there is still a lot of confusion about exactly what they are, how they work and most importantly how to get the HID xenon effect on your own car.

What Are HID Xenon Lights?
HID xenon lights are the latest generation in automotive lighting technology. They first appeared several years ago on prestige cars like Audi, BMW and Mercedes. It is easy to spot a car at night fitted with HID xenon lights as they produce the crisp powerful white xenon light, which seem to have a blue hue around them. HID xenon bulbs seem to flicker slightly when they are first illuminated and extinguish immediately when they are turned off, unlike ordinary halogen bulbs, which take a few seconds for the light to burn out when switched off.

How Do HID Xenon Lights Work?
Unlike standard Halogen headlight bulbs, which work by passing an electrical current through a metal filament to heat up the halogen gas within the bulb, HID xenon headlight bulbs work by using a high voltage spark to ignite xenon gas. A ballast unit is used to generate a high voltage current, around 20,000 volts, which arcs between two electrodes, this spark activates the xenon gas, which in turn activates the metal halide within the xenon bulb.

Once the gas has been activated the power output from the ballast unit stabilises at 85 volts. This method creates a xenon bulb that lasts up to ten times longer and draws considerably less power, around 35W, than a standard halogen headlight bulb.

What Are The Benefits Of Xenon Lights?
Quite simply once you have driven at night with HID xenon lights you will not want to go back. HID xenon lights provide 300% more light than a standard halogen headlight bulbs, producing a beam of white xenon light that closely resembles natural daylight, allowing the driver to see the road and potential hazards earlier and more clearly.

Can I Upgrade My Standard Headlight Bulbs To Xenon Lights?
There are two ways to upgrade your headlights to xenon lights, either by installing an HID xenon conversion kit or by replacing your halogen headlight bulbs with the latest upgrade xenon bulbs.

Fitting an HID kit involves installing a pair of high voltage ballast units and two HID xenon bulbs in place of your standard headlight bulbs. These HID kits operate on exactly the same principle as factory fitted HID xenon lights, however because they are an aftermarket item they are not road legal, and fitting them could invalidate your insurance.

Alternatively you could replace your halogen headlight bulbs with upgrade xenon bulbs. These high performance xenon bulbs look identical to standard headlight bulbs, however by improving the quality of the filament and using pressurised xenon gas instead of halogen, they can produce a xenon light output up to 90% brighter than standard headlight bulbs.

Whilst these xenon bulbs will never match the full light output of a Xenon HID kits they are very quick and easy to install, and will cost considerably less than full HID Xenon Conversion kits and most importantly, are completely road legal.
