How do you accurately dyno a car with an automatic transmission?

Is there some special setup you have to do with auto to get an accurate read on a dyno dynamics? Typically autos shift so quick that you never get a peak hp in any gear before redline is hit in top gear. With a manual you can hold and shift at redline to get peak hp in each gear.
